Microsoft Zune HD Media Player- IPod Competitor or not..??

by Mr. Makk

Better late than never, Microsoft brings out the new Zune generation, Zune HD. HD clearly states High Definition. A large 3.3″ Oled Capacitative Multi Touch Screen which has a full 1080p High Resolution capability, is surely something to vouch for. The long soo gone Capacitative Display of IPod Touch sure has a strong competition.

Zune HD Front

The High Definition does not come that straight, Zune HD features a 600Mhz Nvidia Tegra Processor chip which supports 3D rendering. Its a power packed device for 3D games and streaming out video to HD TV.
An easy to use single button menu just like an IPod to bring you to the main menu screen is quite easy.
After along time, in the phase of ever glorious IPod Touch, with the same increasingly annoying Build, ZHD comes as a good surprise with some refreshing good looks. The aluminium back does its trick on giving it a nice and pleasant look and feel.

Zune HD Back

Not to forget it also has a FM Radio with live pause capability aswell just like the new IPod Nano.

To be a good Multimedia Device it not always just about the handset, the desktop client too is supposed to be good enough. And microsoft sure has done there homework in that department aswell. The ZHD Desktop client is more easy to use, simple and straight forward as compared to the Dull looking ITunes.

But you cant be perfect always, can you? A missing Camera lack the touch as compared to the new IPod Nano, The Web Browser isnt as good as what you can expect on the safari browser on IPod Touch. Looking for music on device was much faster than looking in the desktop client. A not soo developed marketplace and just a start for new applications is a long way to go, which is even based on its popularity.

Here is a small video from the Zune HD Developers team, covering all the features in brief:

ZuneHD is available in 2 varients, 16Gb for $220 and a 32Gb for $290.
So its upto you based on your prefrences to choose between the Hyped MultiMedia Players.
