Flashing ROMS from SD card/Internal Storage on Windows Mobile Phone Device

by Mr. Makk

Flashing ROMS from SD card/Internal Storage on Windows Mobile Phone Device Flashing junkies many times face issues with slow and buggy flashing and also sometimes the Flash Utility, the RUU tends to flash a Rom to your device only if you have a minimum of 50% of battery(though it’s recommended to have a decent amount so you don’t misflash). Also if by mistake the Active Sync connection drops between the flashing process, your device falls unusable. Well to overcome all these issues these is a much simpler, less complicated, faster and safer way to Flash Roms to your HTC Windows Mobile Devices. You can now easily flash using your SD Card by pressing a few buttons and you wont even require and cord during the whole process).

The main method is same but one step is device specific.

Steps:

  1. Get the .nbh file ready to be flashed on your device.
  2. Make sure that your SD card is Fat32 or format the same to Fat32 & use a smaller memory card the smaller the better(Not much important though).
  3. Rename the .nbh file to ****img.nbh. Where **** being 4 letters which differ from device to device. Usually **** are the 1st four letters of the Device Name (for instance, Diamond is diamimg.nbh, Blackstone is blacimg.nbh, Polaris is polaimg.nbh, Kaiser is kaisimg.nbh and so and so). You can find those 4 letters for each device that supports SD ROM Flashing by conducting a Google search or go to the specified section for your device in the XDA-Developers).
  4. Power-Off your phone.
  5. Find the combination of hardware keys needed to be pressed to go to the flashing screen (you can find the combination in the XDA-Developers for each device).
  6. The Phone will go into the bootloader mode, and will auto detect the rom image from the SD Card and ask if you want to proceed by hitting the power button. Hit the power button and the rom will install.
  7. It should take about 10-15 mins (need to patiently wait for the process don’t touch ur phone till it is done)
  8. When the process is finished you will need to soft rest the phone for regular boot to get the 1st Boot.
  9. Always do a hard reset immediately on flashing any new ROM.
